Nunatsiavut Group of Companies (NGC) President and CEO Chris Webb is advising the public that Cafe Illusuak and Giftshop will remain closed until further notice.
Our priority right now is supporting all NGC staff who were involved in or impacted by the incident. We would like to thank the Nain Clinic for the immediate care they provided to our staff and others.
On Monday, July 17th at 3:10 pm, we were notified of heavy smoke and the fire alarm sounding at the Illusuak Cultural Centre in Nain. Although there’s no indication yet of what caused the smoke, the Nunatsiavut Government, who own the building, will be conducting an investigation on the incident. Following this, we will have a better indication of when we may be able to reopen.
